Bicycle Tours

From May to September, Friday through Sunday at 10:30 AM, you can take a 2½-hour bike tour from the opera house for 25 SF. The tour is given in German and English; bikes are supplied. Reservations are necessary only for four or more people. Zurich by Bike (076/3087016. www.zurichbybike.ch).

Bus Tours

Three introductory bus tours with English commentary are offered by the tourist office. Cityrama's daily tour covers the main city sights and then goes on to Rapperswil to see the rose gardens and castle. The trip lasts three hours, leaving at 11 AM; it costs 45 SF. The Zürich Trolley Experience (32 SF) gives a good general idea of the city in two hours; it leaves at 9:45 AM, noon, and 2 PM. The Combo Tour goes farther and includes a train trip to the top of the nearby Üetliberg. This is also a daily tour, given at 9:45 AM, noon, and 2 PM; it takes four hours and costs 40 SF. The tourist bureau also offers day trips by coach to Luzern, up the Rigi, Titlis, or Pilatus mountains, and the Jungfrau.

Walking Tours

Daily from June to October, the tourist office offers two-hour walking tours (20 SF) that start at the Hauptbahnhof. You can join a group with English-language commentary, but the times vary, so call ahead. Tourist information (Hauptbahnhof, Kreis 1, CH-8023. 044/2154000).
