Freestanding on its own waterfront-garden grounds, this genteel, intimate retreat offers top-drawer haute gastronomie and a few luxurious rooms upstairs. The guest rooms are lightened with fresh flowers, lacquered cane furniture, and lake views; many rooms have balconies. Chef Étienne Krebs's exceptional menu may include cod fillet with confit of candied onions and red peppers or cannelloni of rabbit stuffed with foie gras. A bit less formal than the dining room is the canopied terrace, open daily in summer for alfresco dining.
