Musée Historique du Vieux Vevey (Historical Museum of Old Vevey)

Musée Historique du Vieux Vevey (Historical Museum of Old Vevey) Review

The Musée Historique du Vieux Vevey occupies a grand 16th-century manor house, briefly home to Charlotte de Lengefeld, wife of Friedrich von Schiller. It retains some original furnishings as well as collections of arms, art, keys, and winemaking paraphernalia. The first floor serves as headquarters for the Brotherhood of Winegrowers, the organization that stages the mammoth Fêtes des Vignerons (Winegrowers' Festival). The festival is held roughly every 25 years; you can get a taste of the most recent celebration (1999) from the costumes, photographs, and memorabilia on display.
