Fodor's Expert Review Hôtel Regina
18 rue Grand-St-Jean, Lausanne, Vaud, 1003, Switzerland
At this friendly lodging—well situated in a pedestrian zone with parking access—some guest rooms have cathedral panoramas, and others look out onto red-tile rooflines; all, however, are neatly squared away, with color-coordinated carpets and upholstery. Top-floor units are modern, multilevel spaces with bleached-plank ceilings and cherrywood furniture. The owners spent more than a decade in the United States, so the language barrier is nonexistent. Note, though, that there is no restaurant, only a breakfast room.
PROS
- sights and shopping just outside the front door
- well priced in an expensive lodging city
- well-mannered staff
CONS
- although driving up to the entrance is hypothetically possible, it's hard to find the way
- no restaurant, although many options are nearby
- dated, unattractive linens in some rooms
