By Train in Valais

There are straightforward rail connections to the region by way of Geneva/Lausanne to the west and Brig/Brigue to the east. The two are connected by one clean rail sweep that runs the length of the valley. In winter a special extension of the high-speed train from France, TGV Neige, terminates in Brig. (Information is available through the SBB.) The run to main connections mid-valley takes about two hours. Add on another hour to arrive at mountain destinations. Routes into smaller tributary valleys are limited, although most resorts are served by cheap and reliable postbuses running directly from train stations.
