By Air in Valais

For international arrivals you can choose between two airports when flying to Valais: Geneva Cointrin or Unique Zürich. Geneva Cointrin recieves few international flights directly from the United States, but connecting service through London and Paris makes it preferrable for those heading to the west (French) end of Valais; it's about two hours away by train or car. Unique Zürich brings passengers closer to the east (German) side, but the Alps are in the way; you must connect by rail tunnel or drive over one of the passes which will take three to four hours. Commuter and private jet service is available into Sion.
