Fodor's Review

Storyboards and films at the Musée et Chiens du St-Bernard praise the lifesaving work of a breed of dog that has come to symbolize the Alpine zone straddling Switzerland and Italy. Eight female St. Bernard dogs live year-round at the museum, which is in a restored arsenal adjacent to Martigny's Roman amphitheater. Visitors may watch the dogs in their grassy outdoor enclosure from both inside the museum and the park outside. Occasionally a handler brings one of them out to meet and greet. Cuddly toy St. Bernards are sold in the museum shop. Le Collier d'Or (Gold Collar), the museum's terraced café, opens half an hour before the museum for an energizing coffee or snack.
