Perched near Lago Maggiore, this Old Town option has pleasant guest rooms tucked under the rafters with classic tile floors in cream and red. They may be simple, but the rooms are a fairly good value and have a rustic charm. Even better, the popular trattoria downstairs offers inexpensive regional food—pizzas, pastas, simply prepared fish—with fancier fish dishes available in the more formal restaurant upstairs.
