For something completely different, spend a night in jail—which is what this hotel was until as recently as 1998. Bright paint, comfortably simple beds, modular bathroom facilities, and the odd antique furnishing take the blues out of the jailhouse and replace it with funky charm—while still leaving its bars in place. Although the rooms are small—cell-sized, in fact—the fun atmosphere that radiates from the downstairs bar adds to the draw. There's even a suite
in the old warden's office, with a large barred window.
