Bus Travel

You can take the Swiss postbus (postauto) system's Palm Express from Lugano in the Ticino to St. Moritz. The four-hour trip passes through a corner of Italy and over the Maloja Pass. Though owners of a Swiss Pass do not need to purchase an additional ticket, reservations are essential. Postbuses are a good way to wind your way up Alpine switchbacks over the region's great passes—that is, if you're not inclined toward motion sickness. The main ski resorts have "sport bus" shuttles, which connect the villages and mountain stations. The service is usually included in the price of your lift ticket or on presentation of a "guest card" (check to see if your hotel offers these discount booklets).
