Waldhaus am See Review

This is another world, a good hotel perched on a peninsula overlooking the lake and mountains with a merely peripheral view of St. Moritz's urban turmoil (well filtered through double glass) across the highway. With a big, sunny balcony, dining rooms with views, and a clientele ranging from family clans to senior citizens, it's a vacation lodge geared to leisurely stays. The reasonably priced restaurant stocks more than 1,500 wines, and owner-entrepreneur Claudio Bernasconi has introduced Switzerland's most extensive whiskey bar (which holds the record for the Guinness Book of World Records' largest selection of whiskies). Guest rooms are plain, with pine trim and some dated plumbing, though many modern baths have been added in recent years.
