Fodor's Review

Waldhotel National cheese hut Hallowed as the hotel where Thomas Mann wrote part of his famous Magic Mountain—back in the early 1900s this was a "cure-hotel" for ailing patients—this large, chalet-inspired retreat is set in its own wooded grounds above Arosa. Peace is everywhere, intoxicatingly enjoyed as you ski or sled your way home in winter. North-facing guest rooms look over the forest, and south-facing ones look over the village and the mountains. All

are tastefully decorated and have touches of golden pine. The Kachelofa-Stübli serves local and French specialties. Hotel residents enjoy their meals in the airy and very popular Thomas Mann Restaurant (reservations essential); in winter season the Käse Hütte restaurant is added.
