This is another world, a good hotel perched on a peninsula overlooking the lake and mountains with a merely peripheral view of St. Moritz's urban turmoil (well filtered through double glass) across the highway. With a big, sunny balcony, dining rooms with views, and a clientele ranging from family clans to senior citizens, it's a vacation lodge geared to leisurely one- to two-week stays. The reasonably priced restaurant stocks more than 1,500 wines, and owner-entrepreneur Claudio Bernasconi has introduced Switzerland's most extensive whiskey bar (as well as his handpicked selection of ties for sale); according to the Guinness Book of World Records, the Devil's Place bar holds the record for the world's largest selection of whiskies. Guest rooms are plain, with pine trim and some dated plumbing, though many modern baths have been added in recent years. Sunny corner doubles have tiny bays over the lake. In winter and summer half board is included in the price; in May and November prices include breakfast only.
