Bel'Espérance Review

Rooftop views of Lake Geneva, bright yellow-and-blue rooms, tile baths, impeccable upkeep, and a graceful Louis-Philippe-style salon and breakfast room put this Salvation Army-run former foyer pour dames (ladies' boarding house) on a par with much pricier hotels. (Don't let the tiny area just inside the entrance fool you: the reception desk and public rooms are up the flight of stairs.) Large doubles connect to form "suites" for parents and children, the communal kitchen has a fridge with lockers, the whole hotel is off limits to smokers, and Place du Bourg-de-Four is right up the hill.
