The leafy outdoor terrace, soft yellow facade, and peach-paneled lobby impose civility on this modest hotel's central but chaotic location on a busy street opposite the Gare Cornavin. Guest rooms have marbled tile bathrooms, sleek wood furniture, double-glazed windows, and restful rose, green, and raspberry color schemes. The multilingual, uniformed staff is on duty round the clock. La Véranda, the restaurant where breakfast is served, also offers reasonably priced lunches
and dinners, including the ubiquitous plat du jour from a modest 15 SF.

I booked myself and 3 friends into this hotel since it was listed in Fodors and a few other guides. I expected a simple but clean room. I got a room with dirty carpet that had obviously not even been vacuumed that day: talcum powder and cellophane from the previous resident's visit were still there. In 3 corners of the ceiling there were ancient cobwebs decorated with flies and gnats. In the 4th corner, the deceased spider was in residence. The area
around the hotel would be EXTREMELY dangerous for a single woman at night and young women should be very cautions about going out in groups of less than 3. This hotel is not recommended to anyone under any circumstances and I can't believe that it appears in Fodors!!

I wouldn't go back to that hotel during the summer. The room I stayed on the top floor was not as small as the average european hotel room, but it had no air conditioner, during the day it got so hot me and my friend had to leave the room. There were plenty of windows overlooking the noisy streets of downtown Geneva and the train station. The bathroom was pretty clean. The lady at the front desk was not very helpful, she didn't seem to like young
guests and I felt she could have treated us better. I got to visit a single room, but I wouldn't stay there, it is the size of a matchbox and the bed was tiny. When we came back from clubbing, we were locked outside and had to wait a couple of minutes while the night person woke up and came to get the door. I only stayed there for one night, I don't think I would want to stay another one during the summer.
