Books, audio guides in English, and 19th-century rooms full of models, paintings, documents, and objects highlight the considerable achievements of Swiss people outside Switzerland in this dense little museum surrounded by parkland. Swiss Guards and military men give way to artists, bankers, explorers, doctors, writers, archaeologists, chocolatiers, and inventors as the centuries progress; many, like Albert Gallatin, were surprisingly prominent.
