Staubbach Review

Located just across from the famous Staubbach Falls and directly on Lauterbrunnen's main street—handily lined with cafés—is this excellent option. Young owners have turned this local landmark into a stylish hotel, with modern guest rooms that shimmer with teak and pinewoods. Although the emphasis is on keeping the prices low, there's no skimping on personal warmth and charm. Needless to say, the views of the falls are astounding and, consequently, most people ask for a south-facing room. The fact that this side also faces the main road (which has its share of roaring buses) means you should also consider the three other directions of the compass. Families will be pleased to note the children's play area.

My family stayed at Staubbach for 2 nights while we explored the Jungfrau region. Our rooms were nice with balconies that faced the Staubbach falls. It was very noisy at the bar across the way one of the nights, but that is not the hotel's fault. The common rooms on the first floor were very family-oriented with a TV and games. The manager who was from the Czech Republic was terrific. She greeted each guest in the breakfast room and asked about their hike the previous day and gave recommendations for other places to hike, visit etc. I would recommend this hotel to others visiting the area.
