Hotel Belvedere Review

As you wind your way into Grindelwald, you can't help but notice this large, pink structure perched precariously above the road. Suites and common areas are tastefully designed: the Salon Louis Philippe, for instance, is now a fumoir (smoking room) with replica antiques and wood-inlay games tables. Regular guest rooms aren't grand, but there are great views of the Eiger and surrounding peaks from almost everywhere. The staff radiates genuine warmth and absolute professionalism; the owner takes groups of guests curling, sledding, or on visits to organic farms. The bright and glossy restaurant has a fresh and creative menu; in winter the Spycher eatery features fondues and raclettes. For total relaxation there's an outdoor hot tub, sauna and steam room.

    Exceeds Expectations!

My husband and I would give the Boutique Hotel Belvedere Grindelwald our top rating of all. Communications during the reservation period were instantaneous and accommodating. The hotel was within steps of the main train station in the center of Grindelwald, and the staffs personable greetings and detailed information upon arrival were appreciated. From the balcony of our junior suite we looked directly out on the glorious massive mountain ranges encircling Grindelwald - many of which we enjoyed hiking. The room was carefully decorated in a fine blend of beautiful traditional and contemporary furnishings, more space and quality than found in similar rated hotels; bathroom was spotless and huge. The friendly greetings to hotel guests at a weekly reception and during evening meals, the delicious tea service in the eloquent lobby every afternoon, and the indoor pool and outside salt water jacuzzi to soothe our aching muscles after spectacular hikes are memorable! Beautiful art, lovely antique prints of local scenes, personal photos and historical artifacts on the walls and in the corridors of this century-old Swiss family hotel were tastefully done. But our most favorite of all were the incredible magnificent daily meals. Breakfast choices were quite extensive (including eggs), while the eloquent (and eloquently served) dinners were simply exquisite! During two weeks each meal was sophisticatedly imaginative, with delicate sauces and cooked to absolute perfection; many alternatives were also offered; all accompanied by truly personable service, a magnificent maestro at the piano, and the Hausers hand-picked finest Valaise wine to celebrate their 100-year anniversary! We cant recommend this fantastic hotel enough! Dr. D. N. Irving, Washington, D.C., U.S.A.

    Hotel Belvedere Review

We've stayed in many hotels but I now understand the true beauty of the boutique hotel. The hotel itself is exactly what I would expect when in the mountains of Switzerland, classy and sophisticated. The staff is super friendly and helpful, they do what needs to be done. We didn't eat there and therefore cannot comment on the food, but the outdoor salt water tub, with the mountains in the background and the fires, is a really nice touch. There is a park in case you bring kids. We found the hotel to be immaculately clean, modern while still having the elegant class of Switzerland and the best part was that you were not nickel and dimed for everything. They have a computer you can use, they allowed us to hook up our laptop to their Internet for free, they gave free welcome drinks, the use of umbrellas etc. When you stay in a chain hotel now they try to get you on every little thing and you often start to wonder what you paid for. Here there was a feeling of family and connection and I honestly feel like they would remember us if we returned. All in all, an outstanding experience in the quaintest of towns.
