Across from the Staubbach Falls, this excellent lodging opens directly onto Lauterbrunnen's main street, which is handily lined with shops and cafés. The owners have turned this local landmark into a stylish hotel, with modern guest rooms that shimmer with teak and pine. Although the emphasis is on keeping the prices low, there's no skimping on warmth and charm. The views of the falls are astounding: most people ask for a south-facing room. The fact that this side also faces the main road (which has its share of roaring buses) means you should also consider the three other directions of the compass.

My family stayed at Staubbach for 2 nights while we explored the Jungfrau region. Our rooms were nice with balconies that faced the Staubbach falls. It was very noisy at the bar across the way one of the nights, but that is not the hotel's fault. The common rooms on the first floor were very family-oriented with a TV and games. The manager who was from the Czech Republic was terrific. She greeted each guest in the breakfast room and asked about
their hike the previous day and gave recommendations for other places to hike, visit etc. I would recommend this hotel to others visiting the area.
