Museum der Kulturen Basel (Basel Museum of Cultures) Review
After a radical renovation by star architects Herzog and de Meuron, the ethnographic museum held its much-awaited reopening in September 2011. "Expeditions: The World in a Suitcase," the first permanent exhibit to open since the museum's makeover, displays what Basel anthropologists from the 19th and 20th centuries brought back from their expeditions around the globe. Three to four rotating exhibitions explore the history of Switzerland and its neighbors. Descriptions are available in German, French, English, and sometimes Italian.
