This former prison, built in 1724, was converted into a combined hotel and hostel in 1989. The hotel rooms are made available as additional hostel rooms in summer. Rooms are small, and windows are nearly nonexistent—you are in a prison, after all—but that hasn't stopped travelers from flocking here. Each room has two to five iron-frame beds, and all but 10 have bathrooms with shower. The hostel is on the island of Långholmen, which has popular bathing beaches and the Prison Museum. The Inn, next door, serves Swedish home cooking, the Jail Pub offers light snacks, and a garden restaurant operates in summer.
