Working with what appears to be a dubious location (atop a tunnel above a six-lane highway), the Hilton has pulled a rabbit out of a hat. Built on special noise- and shock-absorbing cushions, the hotel almost lets you forget about the highway. The intriguing labyrinth of levels, separate buildings, and corridors is filled with such unique details as a rounded stairway lighted from between the steps. The guest rooms are exquisitely designed and modern, with plenty of stainless steel and polished-wood inlay to accent the maroon color scheme. The Eken restaurant and bar serves food indoors and out. If you eat or drink too much, there's a gym with excellent facilities. The hotel is at Slussen, easily accessible from downtown.
