As charming as its namesake, Lord Nelson's mistress, the Lady Hamilton is a modern hotel inside a typical Gamla Stan russet-red 15th-century building. Swedish antiques fill the guest rooms and common areas, including such obscure objects as old spirit cabinets, complete with original bottles. Romney's Bacchae portrait of Lady Hamilton hangs in the foyer, where she also supports the ceiling in the form of a large smiling figurehead from an old ship. The breakfast room, furnished with captain's chairs, looks out onto the lively cobblestone street, and the subterranean sauna rooms, in whitewashed stone, provide a secluded fireplace and a chance to take a dip in the building's original, medieval well.

Great location, very clean, excellent breakfast and the "ladies" amenties kit in the room was a very nice and welcome touch. Great value.
