The Gustav Wasa, named after the first king of Sweden, is right next to Odenplan Square. The hotel is in a 19th-century residential building and has fairly large, bright rooms with herringbone hardwood floors, original trim and details along the ceilings, and a funky blend of antiques and furniture that's more modern. Some rooms have wonderful original tiled fireplaces. Ask for a room with a window out to the street in order to get a direct view of the grand Gustav Wasa Church and the Odenplan. The other available view, of the inner courtyard, is much less exciting. The downtown location and lower prices make this an excellent place for budget travelers who prefer a friendly hotel.
