Fodor's Review:

The architect Ragnar Östberg, one of the founders of the National Romantic movement, completed Stockholm's city hall in 1923. Headquarters of the city council, the building is functional but ornate: its immense Blå Hallen (Blue Hall) is the venue for the annual Nobel Prize dinner, Stockholm's principal social event. Take a trip to the top of the 348-foot tower, most of which can be achieved by elevator, to enjoy a breathtaking panorama of the city and Riddarfjärden.

  • Cost: SKr 60, tower SKr 20
  • Open: Guided tours only. Tours in English, June-Aug., daily 10, 11, noon, 2, and 3; Sept., daily 10, noon and 2; Oct.-May, daily 10 and noon. Tower open May-Sept., daily 10-4.30
