The Southeast Places

Benidorm

Benidorm is an overdeveloped resort with tens of thousands of hotel beds and a seemingly bottomless capacity for tourists. Hundreds of thousands still flock to the twin, white crescent-shaped beaches annually. The resultant glut of karaoke clubs and British-run pubs offering all-day breakfasts and satellite soccer games give Benidorm a decidedly un-Spanish feel—and it's certainly not the place for those seeking a quiet vacation by the Mediterranean. Those with children, though, may appreciate the nearby famous Terra Mítica theme park, the animal and water parks, and the available boat trips. For a fantastic view, follow signs to Club Sierra Dorada at the eastern edge of town and climb up to the Rincón de Loix (Loix Corner).
