Manacor
Majorca's second-largest town, Manacor is known primarily for its Majórica artificial-pearl industry; from here, it's only a few minutes' drive to any of the beaches on the island's eastern coast. Prehistoric settlement sites abound in this area; later, the Romans moved in, followed by the Moors, who built a mosque where the Gothic parish church of Nostra Senyora de les Dolores (Our Lady of Sorrows) now stands.
