Nueva Galicia

Nueva Galicia Review

This small family-run bar and restaurant has long been one of the best values in the center of Madrid—it's two blocks from the Puerta del Sol—and you can eat inside or, during summer, at tables on the pedestrian-only side street. It's usually noisy and serves simple food, but a starter, main course, dessert, and a full bottle of wine can be consumed for a ridiculously low €9, or you can choose to share some of the larger portions (raciones) of octopus, cuttlefish, lacón (cooked ham with Galician potatoes), or pisto (a Spanish ratatouille). If you're heading out, get a sandwich to go.
