There are fancier and surely more expensive Italian restaurants in the city, but none as warm or authentic. Decorated with black-and-white photos of Italian actors and movie scenes, the interior is divided into three nooks: the bistrolike front, with the green-and-white checkered tablecloths, is the most charming. The portions are large, eye-catching, and tastefully presented; diners love risottos such as the Milanesa with lobster and risotto porcini. The menu also offers fresh pasta dishes and surprises such as liver- or pumpkin-filled ravioli, and the timbale come prima (a molded pasta cake filled with vegetables).
