The over-the-top baroque exuberance of this bar sets it apart from its humble setting. There are urns and baskets of fresh flowers and fruit tumbling out on to the floor, stone pillars and vaulted ceilings, tall candles, and ambient opera music. Be warned: Abaco's signature cocktails will knock you back €16.
Tucked down Carrer dels Apuntadors, Wineing is a great place to try wines from across the island and beyond. There's a self-service, credit-card-operated system that dispenses small tastings (or larger glasses, if you feel inclined), plus a menu of tapas, cheese platters, and grilled meats for sharing.
This stylish bar near the port has a café-terrace downstairs and live jazz and blues on Thursday and Friday nights. It's open Thurs.–Sun 7 pm–2 am and serves tapas and snacks to share in the evening.
This popular club in San Rafael opened in 1980 and it's still going strong, with several ample dance floors that throb to house and funk. Like most of the clubs on the island, it opens for the season around mid-May, with a gala bash.
Dug like a cave into the bluff of the little cove of Cala Corb, this is where locals gather on Friday and Saturday, 10 pm–2 am, to sing and play guitar. It's hard to find, but anybody in Es Castell can point the way.
Gay nightlife converges on this street in Sa Penya.
Hidden behind the walls of the Dalt Vila, this narrow lane is lined with bustling eateries. It's at its most atmospheric in the evening, when you can enjoy a candlelit dinner on the cobblestones as the world slowly saunters past.
On the west side of Passeig des Born in the old town, this street is lined with casual bars and cafés that appeal to night owls in their twenties and thirties. On the weekend, you can often come across impromptu live rock and pop performed on small stages.
This is a small gaming club with roulette tables, blackjack, slots, and poker. You need your passport or other picture ID to enter. There are Texas Hold'em tables nightly from 10; the minimum buy-in is €150.
Palma's casino is a short distance from the harbor. Entrance costs €8 and includes a drink; you'll need to show a passport, driver's license, or other official photo ID to enter. Dress is informal, but T-shirts, shorts, and sandals are frowned on. No-limit poker tables and Texas Hold'em tournaments are the big attraction here. It's open daily 10 am–5 am.
From June to September, catch live music on Wednesdays, as well as some weekends, at the Casino bar and restaurant. Book ahead for tables on the terrace.
This might be the hottest spot in Menorca to catch the sun going down, drink in hand, with afternoon chill-out events with live music. A 20-minute drive from Mahón in the beach resort of Cala en Porter, this unique spot is in a series of caves in a cliff high above the sea, which, according to local legend, was once the refuge of a castaway Moorish pirate called Xoroi.
Some of Palma's best jazz combos—and the occasional rock group—play this small, smoky club in the old port-side neighborhood. There's music every night, and it keeps going until 3 am on Friday and Saturday.
Clubbers kick off the evening here, where there's no cover and the action starts at 11 pm. The indoor space at Keeper can get a bit cramped, but out on the terrace, freedom and Latin beats reign.

This square, along with the surrounding streets, is the place to go for copas (drinking, tapas sampling, and general carousing).
There are many places to take in a spectacular sunset in Ibiza, but this one ranks as one of the White Isle’s top (albeit busiest) spots. Set above a beautiful stretch of unspoiled coastline, boho Sunset Ashram mixes beach casual with ambient music, tasty cocktails, and unobstructed panoramic views of the golden hour. Dinner is also served here (reservations essential), though crowds flock for the atmosphere above the cuisine.
Space is the word for it: the main room here would make a comfortable fit for an airplane hangar or two. The opening and closing parties of the season here are legendary.
This fun little venue for live blues (with occasional forays into reggae and rock) is on a hard-to-find alleyway between Carrer d'Estanc and Carrer d'Apuntadores. Bands hit their stride around midnight, and keep going till 4 am.
