This beautiful freshwater lagoon was named by Moorish poets—albufera means "the sun's mirror." Dappled with rice paddies, the park is a nesting site for more than 250 bird species, including herons, terns, egrets, ducks, and gulls. Admission is free, and there are miles of lovely walking and cycling trails. Bird-watching companies offer boat rides all along the Albufera. For maps, guides, and tour arrangements, start your visit at the Park's information center,
the Centre d'Interpretació Raco del'Olla in El Palmar.
