The majority of the oldest and most attractive paradors in Castile are in quieter towns such as Almagro, Ávila, Chinchón, Cuenca, León, and Sigüenza. Those in Toledo, Segovia, Salamanca, and Soria are modern buildings with magnificent views and, in the case of Segovia, have wonderful indoor and outdoor swimming pools. There are pleasant alternatives to paradors too, such as Ávila's Palacio de Valderrábanos (a 15th-century palace next to the cathedral), Segovia's Infanta Isabel, Salamanca's Rector, and Cuenca's Posada San José, a 16th-century convent.
