The major airport, and only international one, in Castile is Madrid's Barajas. From León and Valladolid, however, Iberia has flights to all of Spain's major cities.

Bus connections between Madrid and Castilian destinations are excellent. Madrid's three main bus stations are Estación del Sur (Méndez Alvaro), the bus station at the Conde de Casal Metro station, and the bus station one level above the Avenida de America Metro stop. Buses to Segovia (1½ hours) leave every hour from La Sepulvedana's headquarters, which are near Príncipe Pío. Larrea is a company with buses to Ávila (about 1¾ hours)from the Méndez Alvaro Metro stop. From the Conde de Casal Metro station,

Alsa and Movelia have buses to León (4½ hours). Alsa also goes to Valladolid (2¼ hours); Auto Res serves Cuenca (2¾ hours) and Salamanca (3 hours). Avoid taking the bus at rush hour, as journeys can be delayed by more than an hour. Note too that because bus company operators sometimes do not speak English fluently, it's best to find schedules and times online.

The major towns in Castile-León and most in Castile-La Mancha are accessible by train from Madrid but trains tend to take longer than buses, have fewer departures, can be a rockier ride, and sometimes don't pass through certain cities. There are commuter trains from Madrid to Segovia (2 hours) and to Guadalajara (1 hour). Trains to Salamanca, Burgos, and León depart from Atocha and Chamartín; both stations also serve Ávila and Segovia, though Chamartín may have more frequent service.
