cathedral Review

Zamora's cathedral is in a hauntingly beautiful square at the highest and westernmost point of the old town. Most of the building is Romanesque, but it's most remarkable for its dome, which is flanked by turrets, articulated by spiny ribs, and covered in overlapping stones. The interior is notable for its early-16th-century carved choir stalls. The austere, late-16th-century cloister has a small museum, with an intricate custodia (monstrance, or receptacle for the Host) by Juan de Arce and some badly displayed but intriguing Flemish tapestries from the 15th and 16th centuries.
