Museo de Semana Santa (Holy Week Museum) Review

Zamora is famous for its Holy Week celebrations. The Museo de Semana Santa houses the sculptures paraded around the streets in processions during that time. Of relatively recent vintage, these works have an appealing provincial quality—for instance, a Crucifixion group filled with what appears to be the contents of a hardware store, including bales of rope, a saw, a spade, and numerous nails. The museum is in an unsightly modern building next to the church of Santa María.
