Colegio Mayor Arzobispo Fonseca/Colegio de Los Irlandeses (Irish College) Review

Also known as Escuelas Menores, or the Minor Schools, this small college was founded by Alonso de Fonseca II in 1521 to train young Irish priests. It's now a residence hall for guest lecturers at the university. This part of town was the most severely damaged during the Peninsular War of the early 19th century and still has a slightly derelict character. The interior, however, is a treat. To the right immediately inside is a late-Gothic chapel, and beyond it lies one of the most classical and genuinely Italianate of Salamanca's many courtyards.
