Museo de Santa Cruz

Museo de Santa Cruz Review

In a beautiful Renaissance hospital with a stunning classical-plateresque facade, this museum is open all day without a break (unlike many of Toledo's other sights). The light and elegant interior has changed little since the 16th century, apart from works of art having replaced the hospital beds; among the displays is El Greco's Assumption of 1613, the artist's last known work. A small Museo de Arqueología (Museum of Archaeology) is in and around the hospital's delightful cloister.

Lovely building, one of the main reasons to see this museum. The main collection has a few choice El Grecos and a couple other items, but is very small; they also have temporary exhibits of varying quality. It's free -- price is right.
