Fodor's Expert Review Casa de los Coroneles

Corralejo Historic Home

Editor's Note: This property is currently undergoing renovations.

The island's most famous historic building is 19 km (11 miles) south on the inland road. Military governors built the immense house in the 1600s and ruled the island from it until the turn of the 20th century. The interior, which you can see in under 30 minutes, is defined by heavy wooden doors and charming courtyards, though rooms are devoid of furniture. Placards are in Spanish only.
