Across from the Guggenheim and a block from Bilbao's Museo de Bellas Artes, this boutique hotel, designed by Barcelona fashion and interior designer Antonio Miró, is exciting, comfortable, and daringly innovative. Rooms are quiet, spacious, and contemporary, with lots of high-tech design touches. Public rooms are simple and unpretentious; the hip downstairs bar is punctuated with canary-yellow walls. Expect excellent service throughout your stay, and, if you opt for it, a lavish breakfast with fresh-squeezed orange juice, bacon, eggs, and more—enough to keep you going until dinner. There's a CD and DVD library, in addition to plenty of books. Pros: All the Guggenheim eyeful you could ever ask for, sexy clientele and staff. Cons: Over-designed, certain practicalities such as bedside tables and closet space seem to have been overlooked.
