Museo de Bellas Artes

Fodor's Review:

Don't let the Guggenheim eclipse the Museo de Bellas Artes (Museum of Fine Arts). Depending on your tastes, you may find the art here more satisfying. The museum's fine collection of Flemish, French, Italian, and Spanish paintings includes works by El Greco, Goya, Velázquez, Zurbarán, Ribera, and Gauguin. One large and excellent section traces developments in 20th-century Spanish and Basque art alongside those of their better-known European contemporaries, such as Léger and Bacon. The building sits on the rim of the pretty Doña Casilda Park, about a 30-minute walk from the Old Quarter.
