Fodor's Expert Review Bar Pastis

On a tiny street off the bottom of La Rambla, this dusty hole-in-the-wall is a city treasure. For six decades, Bar Pastis has provided patrons with a nostalgic, elbow-to-elbow glimpse at bohemian back-alley Paris circa the 1940s. The nicotine-stained walls, grimy shelves filled with ancient bottles, and the faded portraits of long-ago performers are all genuine. The bar holds acoustic gigs nightly for a hard-to-beat €2 supplement on drinks. Concerts generally start around 10 pm and feature tango, flamenco, soft jazz, blues, or anything that fits the bar’s speakeasy groove.
