British designer Kelly Hoppen took this 19th-century townhouse on Rambla de Catalunya and transformed it in 2008 into a chic, intimate urban retreat. Room decor is done in velvety brown, beige and black, with big mirrors, dramatic bed lighting, arresting photography, and romantic dimmer switches. Bathrooms have both cascade and standard shower heads, towel warmers and full amenities (robes and slippers complementary on request for standard doubles). The cozy little bar on the ground floor, with sink-in sofas and armchairs, is a perfect place to unwind at the end of the day. The Murmuri's five apartments, in a separate building around the corner on Passeig de la Concepción, are truly huge, with fully equipped kitchens, en suite master bedrooms and private terraces: perfect billets for families.
