W Barcelona Review

Opened in 2009, this towering sail-shape monolith is the most dominant and iconic shape on the Barcelona waterfront. Locally known as Hotel Vela ("Hotel Sail"), architect Ricardo Bofill's W is a stunner, inside and out. Rooms are an elegant, minimal wash of blond-on-beige wood and textiles, keeping the view front and center. Features throughout the hotel, such as the infinity-edge WET pool, a Bliss spa, and the Whatever/Whenever Service, add to the lush trappings. And master chef Carles Abellán adds to this with the superb cusines at Bravo 24 restaurant.

    The Fabulous W Barcelona tickles our fancy!

    After cruising the Mediterranean and arriving in Barcelona, the W Hotel greeted us like a chic and charming host. The reflective glass icon has stunning wall to ceiling sea views, spacious and smartly furnished rooms, comfy beds, Bliss spa products, an attentive staff, this hotel was cool and hip. Lunch by the poolside, walks on the beach, exploring the city, cocktails in the vibrant Eclispe Bar on the 26th floor and dancing among the stars, delightful! Footsteps from the famous Barcelona Boardwalk and glorious beach, great restaurants, and a short taxi ride to Old Town, this hotel tickled our fancy with the best of so many worlds! We treasure our stay there and look forward to a return.
