$$$, Raval
Fodor's Review:
The mutual brainchild of the Camper footwear empire and Barcelona's nonpareil Vinçon design store, this 21st-century hotel sits halfway between the Rambla and the MACBA (Museum of Contemporary Art). No smoking, no tips, a free 24-hour snack facility where you can invite your friends, ecologically recycled residual waters, children up to 12 staying free of charge, and the Foodball restaurant next door serving spheroids of natural ingredients such as garbanzo beans and spinach all add up to a brave new world in the formerly dark and scary Raval. Pros: handy location in mid-Raval just off the Rambla, ultra-modern technology and concept. Cons: snacking temptation, area can be sketchy late at night.
