Casa Calvet Review

It's hard to pass up the opportunity to break bread in one of the great Moderniste's creations. Designed by Antoni Gaudí from 1898 to 1900, the Art Nouveau Casa Calvet includes this graceful dining room decorated in Moderniste ornamentation from looping parabolic door handles to polychrome stained glass, etched glass, and wood carved in floral and organic motifs. The Catalan and Mediterranean fare is light and contemporary, though refreshingly innocent of nueva cocina influence.
