Barcelona Hotels

Alexandra Barcelona Doubletree by Hilton

Pros

  • Central to the Eixample and a 20-minute walk from the port
  • Tasteful contemporary decor

Cons

  • Design doesn't reflect the Moderniste roots of the neighborhood
  • Rooms could seem constricted after all the space in the lobby

Fodor's Review

Behind a reconstructed Eixample facade, everything here is urban contemporary, with laquered surfaces, warm woods tables, and a cascade of chrome lights. The rooms are spacious and attractively furnished with dark-wood chairs, oversize dark headboards, crisp white linens, and modern photography; those that face inward have thatch screens on the balconies for privacy. From the airy marble hall on up, the Alexandra is a dependable mid-Eixample lodging option.

Horribly Awful

Reading the other review, I would have thought I stayed in a completely different hotel. This place was a nightmare. Why? First - the staff. I walk in and they look at me like i am bothering them by checking in. The whole time, they were so discourteous to me. There was 2 people who showed some decency - the head waiter in the resturant and the maintence guy. The rest were horrible. Second - although it is a block away from Casa Mila - it is SOOOO

noisy. I stayed on the second floor and hardly slept. Third - the rooms are just OK. One of the other reviews gave huge kudos - I don't get it! Consider yourself warned from a guy who does a lot of traveling all over the world (This trip was my 6th continent in 6 months - trust me you wont find many people who have visited more countires than I have). I stayed in a Riad for 40 Euros in Marrakech, Morocco 2 days before with better service and experience. They need to fire the whole staff!!! I will be back to Barcelona in 2 months and you can bet I wont be staying at hotel alexandra!

Perfect location in city center

I booked an early booking offer available only at their site www.hotel-alexandra.com and enjoyed a luxurious junior Suite with private terrace where we had breakfast on sunny Barcelona!!

Alexandra the Great? How bout good.

I thought this hotel was good. The room was fairly small with a slightly uncomfortable bed. The staff was nice but did not go out of their way to be exceptionally useful about restaurant recommendations, etc. The bathroom was roomy and clean. Located between the two major streets, just outside the Rambles, it was an enjoyable walk to area attractions.
