Cinc Sentits
Cinc Sentits Review
The engaging Artal family—maître d' and owner Rosa, server and eloquent food narrator Amy, and chef Jordi—a Catalan family with a couple of decades in Canada and the United States, offers a unique Barcelona experience: cutting-edge contemporary cuina d'autor in a minimalist setting, and explained in detail in native English. Three fixed menus—light, tasting, and omakase (a "trust the chef" surprise menu, including wine pairings of the chef's choice)—provide a wide range of tastes and textures. At the end of the meal a special printout reprises the nine mini-courses and seven wines that have just crossed your palate. This is foodie nirvana.

The name is perfect - the experience is designed to appeal to all your senses and it does it superbly! The only drawback - and this is really nit-picking, is their red wines are still young. Talked to teh waiter and he said he had trouble gettng aged wines from the winery - they specialize in local wines. In short, if you want a wonderful experience, it's a must. PS - the lunch menu is the same as dinner.

Our last evening in Barcelona and Europe was spent celebrating our anniversary at Cinc Sentits. We indulged in the first tasting menu: 7 courses plus two little gifts from the chef plus wine with each course for 95E pp. The entire experience was sublime. The food was just the right quantity for so many courses, it was as beautiful to look at as to taste and it was expertly explained and served by the sister of the chef. It was a perfect end to our perfect vacation.
