This hip little hole-in-the-wall opens into a surprisingly bright and sleekly designed modern space with rooms that come in different shapes, styles, and number of beds, all cheerily appointed and impeccably maintained. Just around the corner from the MACBA, the Gat Raval seems to have been influenced by Richard Meier's shining contemporary structure, though you'd never guess it from the street. Rooms are small and far from luxurious but the value is among Barcelona's best. Pros: Central location in the deepest Raval, hip atmosphere. Cons: Noisy street outside, somewhat cramped rooms and public spaces, few amenities.
