Gran Hotel la Florida Review
With nonpareil views over Barcelona, water sculptures everywhere but in your bed, a superb restaurant (L'Orangerie), and design-conscious suites, it's easy to forgive the 20-minute (and €25) taxi drive from the port to reach this splashy aerie. Some rooms are dressed in a moody mauve palate, with oversize tuffed headboards and silver patterns on the walls; others have a more sedated, neutral palate, but kicky touches like animal print pillows are still found. The L-shape horizon pool is a delight, as are the spas and exercise facilities. Originally opened in 1925, this design hotel has roared back to the forefront of Barcelona's hotel scene.
