Another member of Barcelona's lengthening list of design hotels, this postmodern architectural tour de force created by a team of designers seeks to create, in a playful way, a sense of peace consistent with the eponymous mantra. The rooms (some upper rooms overlook the roof terrace of Gaudí's Casa Milá), reception area, and pool all contribute to this aura. The restaurant, Moo, is an oasis of modern cuisine orchestrated by the Roca brothers—Joan, Josep, and Jordi—who have achieved international prestige with their Celler de Can Roca near Girona. Pros: Perfect location for the upper Eixample, a design triumph, a sense of being at the epicenter of style, great nightlife scene around the bar on weekends. Cons: Slightly pretentious staff, the restaurant Moo pricey and a little precious.

We stayed 2 nights in August, 2005.
You'll love this hotel if you appreciate sleek, contemporary surroundings. Our room was spacious and quiet. The staff was polite and helpful. The rooftop pool deck offers beautiful views of the surrounding neighborhood.
One glitch... with so many electronic controls in the room, we couldn't figure out how to turn the bedside lamp on. Eventually we realized there was a problem. We called the desk and a maintenance man was sent immediately. Problem resolved.
